As I began to write my book, Beltsville Shell: You Are What You Drive, I needed to reach out from my home in San Diego to my friends back in Maryland to help transport me back 40 years to our times together. Making these connections after so long ago proved to be helpful in getting the book "just right", but more importantly, they reignited friendships and experiences that were treasured by each of us. What resulted was a series of "reunions".
Since 2002, about annually, the Beltsville Shell Alumni and our friends and families gather to share stories of yesterday, catch up on today, and wonder about the future. We share food, drink, sometimes cigars, and friendship. What started modestly with seven people has grown in size and happiness. I'm grateful that so many people look forward to the next event!
