Bonneville Legend drives F1 Ferrari

When traditions produce fond memories, they tend to self-perpetuate.

One of the Beltsville Shell special traditions is the annual visit by Thomas and Chris Payne, and (Bonneville Legend) Lou Bingham.  They have been visiting with us regularly since 2011!

On April 6th this lovely trio made another visit to see me and Nan.  As is custom, Don and Shirley came to enjoy the day with all of us, arriving in their beautiful C8 coupe.

The first order of business was to try out my new Formula 1 remote control cars. We took turns on the Seaview track.  Lou tried his hand with the Charles Leclerc Ferrari while Don piloted the Max Verstappen Red Bull car.

Soon it was time for our traditional dinner -- pizza and salad.  The weather was so nice, we ate outside.

Each visit gives us a chance to catch up on the past year's events in Carlsbad and Philo, Illinois.

Lou and Thomas continue to make the annual pilgrimage to Bonneville for fun on the Salt Flats.  Every year is special, and this year was no exception! Thomas was able to drive Lou's old Lou's old '29 Ford Roadster at the salt flats and he successfully secured his Bonneville license!

Thanks for coming, Thomas, Chris, and Lou (and Don and Shirley)!

The AI view of BSYAWYD

I have noticed recently that there have been many (dozens, even hundreds) of “hits” on my blog sites for Corvettes and Beltsville Shell.  That isn’t “normal” unless I’ve posted something especially interesting recently.

I wondered, “Why” because I haven’t been very proactive about any recent messages!

So, I guessed that the AI “spies” might be snooping about.  I still don’t know for sure if that is the case or not . . .  but I used the Microsoft Artificial Intelligence tool, "CoPilot" and I typed in “Beltsville Shell” and here is what popped up . . .

So I chose #2, and here is what appeared . . .

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!  AI even linked the book to my great friend, Thomas Payne, and his stories about the many fans around the world who have read Beltsville Shell! In this case, it looks like AI searched the Corvette Forum.

Wait, it gets spookier . . . .

Oh my goodness!  I didn’t think AI would enter our sacred little world!

So then, I typed my name into the search box and here is what appeared . . .

So . . . what does CoPilot know about Sonny Boteler, a guy who barely ever touched a computer?

I’m speechless.  AI seems to know everything!  I wonder if it can help me find where I left my glasses?
